I started my type career at Compugraphic Inc. which later became Agfa Monotype. I spent 7 years working in the type and custom type groups before moving over to Bitstream. I worked for 10 years in their type and custom design groups. In 1994 five of the designers ( myself included ) left Bitstream and formed Galápagos Design Group.

At Galápagos we specialized in doing custom type design as well as building our own library of original fonts. I was also responsible for maintaining the web site and producing collateral sales material and illustrations for magazines and posters that were used to promote our business.

In 2001 I returned to Bitstream as a graphic designer and illustrator. I worked on design projects for the three companies that make up Bitstream which are Bitstream, Myfonts and Pageflex. The projects ranged from designing and illustrating magazine ads to designing the look and feel of the Myfonts site along with all of the major graphics that make up the site.

A year later I went to a company called Gyricon Inc. They are makers of electronic paper. They currently use the paper to make signs which can be placed in any location within a store or business. The contents of the signs can be changed at any time, using wireless technology from a pc situated locally or remotely.

I was responsible for developing the fonts that would work on the paper using as few interchangable pieces as possible to create all the letters and symbols in a font. Needless to say a few sleepless nights and hair-pulling days were spent trying to solve those problems. I also did web and collateral material graphics for the marketing group.

I am out on my own now doing freelance design and illustration along with the font work for Tail Spin Studio. So that's my story for now.
